What are the different types of nitrous kits?

What is a wet shot?

This type of system injects a mixture of both nitrous and additional fuel into the engine. The term “wet” refers to this mixture of nitrous and fuel. Wet systems are often favored because they ensure that the correct amount of fuel is always present when the nitrous is activated, thus reducing the risk of a lean condition which can cause detonation and potential engine damage.

What is a dry shot?

Contrarily, a dry system only injects nitrous into the engine, relying on the vehicle’s existing fuel system to add the required additional fuel. It’s called “dry” because only the gas (nitrous oxide) is directly injected. The risk here is that if the vehicle’s fuel system doesn’t adequately supply the extra fuel needed during nitrous activation, it can lead to the aforementioned lean condition.

Single-Port vs. Multi-Port

Single-Port: This system introduces nitrous and/or fuel into the intake tract through a single nozzle or injector. It’s simpler and generally more affordable, but may not distribute the nitrous and fuel mixture as evenly across all cylinders. This uneven distribution can cause certain cylinders to run richer or leaner than others, leading to inefficiencies and potential engine damage

Multi-Port: As the name implies, multi-port systems have multiple nozzles or injectors, usually one for each cylinder. This provides a more uniform distribution of nitrous and fuel across all cylinders, ensuring each cylinder receives an optimal mixture. Though typically more expensive and complex to install, multi-port systems are favored for their precision and efficiency, especially in high-power applications.
